Published on Mar 29th, 2024

Exporting data from Airtable to Excel is a common task for users looking to analyze their data using Excel's rich set of features. The process is straightforward, and by following the steps below, you can seamlessly move your Airtable content into an Excel spreadsheet.

Step 1: Open Your Airtable Base
Begin by navigating to the Airtable base that contains the data you wish to export. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to export the data from this base.

Step 2: Select the View You Want to Export
Airtable allows for different views like Grid, Calendar, Form, Kanban, and Gallery. Choose the View that best represents the data you want to export.

Step 3: Export to CSV

  • Click on the three-dot (...) menu at the top-right corner of the view.

  • Select 'Download CSV'. A CSV file of the view will automatically download to your device.

Step 4: Open With Excel

  • Locate the downloaded CSV file on your device.

  • Right-click the file and select 'Open with' > 'Excel'.

Step 5: Save as an Excel Workbook
Now that the data is in Excel, you can save the file in the native Excel format.

  • Click 'File' > 'Save As'.

  • Choose the location you want to save the file to.

  • Select 'Excel Workbook' from the format dropdown menu.

  • Click 'Save'.

With these steps completed, your Airtable data is now in an Excel workbook, ready for further analysis and processing.

Remember, the exported CSV will represent the data as viewed on your selected View within Airtable, and any filtered or hidden fields won't be included in the export. Regularly exporting your data ensures that your Excel records are up-to-date for all of your reporting and archival needs.
