Efficiently Adding Intake Dates to Client Records in Airtable

Published on Mar 30th, 2024

Managing client data effectively is crucial for any consultancy business, and Airtable provides an intuitive platform for such organizational needs. One common task is recording client intake dates, which can be accomplished through a few simple steps. Let's walk you through the process to ensure your client information is up-to-date and easily accessible in Airtable.

Step 1: Access Your Airtable Base
Start by logging into your Airtable account and opening the base where you manage client data.

Step 2: Locate the Appropriate Table
In your base, select the table that contains client records. If you don't already have a field for intake dates, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Add a Date Field
Create a new field by clicking on the '+' symbol next to the last field's name at the top of your table. Choose 'Date' as the field type, and label it appropriately—for example, 'Intake Date'.

Step 4: Enter the Intake Date
Click on the cell under the 'Intake Date' field corresponding to your client's record, and a calendar picker will appear. Select the correct intake date, or manually type it into the cell.

Step 5: Configure Date Format (Optional)
If you have specific formatting preferences, click on the field name to open the field customization options, where you can adjust the date format, toggle whether to include a time field, or set a default date.

Step 6: Save Your Changes
Airtable automatically saves your changes, but it's good practice to ensure all data is entered correctly.

With your client’s intake date now part of their record, you can better manage follow-ups and service provisioning. Using Airtable for client data management streamlines your operations, and by following best practices like these, you can enhance your productivity and client satisfaction.
