Streamlining Workflow: Transferring Zapier Zaps to a New Account
Published on Feb 28th, 2024
Transitioning between Zapier accounts doesn’t have to be a hassle. Whether you’re upgrading to a new business account or simply changing your workflow, transferring your Zaps to a new account can be done efficiently with a few easy steps.
Firstly, understand that transferring Zaps manually is the primary method as of now, as Zapier doesn't offer a direct transfer feature. Begin by logging into your existing Zapier account and navigate to the dashboard. Select the Zaps you wish to transfer, and for each Zap, you will need to recreate it in the new account by following these steps:
Record the Details: Open the Zap and make detailed notes of each step, trigger, action, and any filters or paths. Don’t forget to record the app connections and any customized data used within each step.
Set Up the New Account: Log into your new Zapier account (or create one if you haven't already) and go to the dashboard to start creating a new Zap.
Recreate the Zap: Using the old account's Zap as a reference, set up the trigger and the actions step-by-step in the new account. Be sure to replicate any filters or paths exactly as they are in the original Zap to ensure seamless functionality.
Test the Zap: Before fully transitioning to the new account, test the Zap to ensure that it works as expected. Zapier has a built-in testing feature to facilitate this.
Turn Off the Old Zap: Once the new Zap is tested and working, don’t forget to turn off or delete the Zap from your old account to prevent duplicated tasks.
Repeat the process for each Zap that needs to be transferred. We also recommend reviewing your connected apps and ensuring that all the necessary permissions are granted in the new account.
Lastly, if you’re managing a team or multiple users, consider inviting them as members within your Zapier organization. This way, Zaps and app connections can be shared among team members, offering a smoother transition and easier collaboration.
Admittedly, the manual transfer of Zaps can be time-consuming, depending on the number and complexity of your Zaps. If you have too many zaps or complex workflows, consider reaching out to the Zapier support team or consulting with a professional for assistance.
By following these steps, you will ensure a smooth transition to your new Zapier account with minimal interruption to your automated workflows.
