Privacy Policy for Thread Pilot by Relay
Last updated: August 26, 2026
About this policy
Thread Pilot is a Relay feature operated by Switch Labs. This policy explains how Thread Pilot handles information when you create a Relay account, connect Gmail, and use follow-up drafts. It applies to Google user data received through the Gmail API as well as the account and configuration data you provide directly.
Gmail data Thread Pilot accesses
With your Google OAuth permission, Thread Pilot may access Gmail messages and threads, message bodies, headers, participants, labels, dates, draft state, Gmail history, your Gmail account address, and configured Send-As identities and signatures. This access is used only for the Gmail account you choose to connect.
Thread Pilot does not request access to Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or other Google products as part of this feature.
How Gmail data is used
Thread Pilot uses Gmail data to identify eligible one-to-one conversations where you sent the latest message, determine whether the recipient appears to owe a response or next step, generate a contextual follow-up, and save that follow-up as a reply draft in the original Gmail thread. It also uses thread, label, and sender information to avoid spam, trash, automated mail, duplicates, detached drafts, and drafts from the wrong Send-As identity.
Thread Pilot does not automatically send generated follow-ups. You review, edit, and send each Gmail draft yourself.
AI processing and service providers
When an eligible conversation is evaluated, the relevant thread content may be sent to AI processing providers used by Relay, which may include OpenAI or Anthropic, to classify the next step and prepare a proposed draft. Thread Pilot sends the conversation content needed for that user-facing feature and does not send Relay credentials or Gmail OAuth tokens to the model.
We may also use infrastructure, database, monitoring, and email service providers to operate, secure, and support Relay. These providers receive information only as needed to perform services for Switch Labs. We do not sell Google user data, use it for targeted advertising, or transfer it to data brokers.
Storage, retention, and security
Relay stores account settings, mailbox synchronization state, follow-up status, relevant email content and metadata, and generated drafts so the service can operate reliably and avoid duplicate actions. Gmail OAuth credentials are kept in service-only credential storage and are not displayed to other Relay users.
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security and operational records, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You may request account or data deletion by contacting us. Limited backup or audit copies may remain for a reasonable period where required for security, recovery, or legal compliance.
We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and control
You can turn Thread Pilot off for a connected mailbox, disconnect the mailbox in Relay, or revoke Switch Labs' access from your Google Account permissions. Revoking access stops future Gmail API access but does not by itself delete information already stored in Relay; contact us if you also want that information deleted.
You remain in control of every generated message because Thread Pilot creates review drafts and does not send them automatically.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Thread Pilot's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide or improve the prominent user-facing features described in this policy.
You can review the Google API Services User Data Policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Thread Pilot or applicable requirements change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated through Relay or by email when appropriate.
