Creating Effective Forms in Airtable: A Step-by-Step Guide

Published on Mar 30th, 2024

Step 1: Accessing Airtable and Selecting Your Base

To begin building a form in Airtable, open your Airtable workspace, and select the base where you want to add a new form. If you don't have a base yet, create one by selecting '+ Add a base' and 'Start from scratch' or choose a template.

Step 2: Adding a New Form View

Once inside your base, click '+ Add a view' in the top-left corner of your table interface. From the drop-down menu, select 'Form' to create a new form view related to your table.

Step 3: Customizing Form Fields

In the form editor, you'll see a list of fields on the left, mirroring your table's structure. Click on any field to customize it by changing the field type, adding a description, or making it mandatory. Rearrange the order of the fields by dragging and dropping them into your preferred sequence.

Step 4: Adjusting Form Settings

Use the settings option to configure additional preferences for your form, such as a custom thank-you message, redirecting to a URL after submission, or setting a form limit. These options enhance the user experience and can align with your data collection strategy.

Step 5: Sharing Your Form

Once you're happy with the form's setup, click 'Share form' to access the sharing options. You can embed the form on your website, share it directly through a link, or even use QR codes. Sharing your Airtable form is as simple as distributing the provided URL or embedding code.

Step 6: Managing Form Responses

Responses to your Airtable form are automatically populated in the table associated with the form. From here, you can further analyze the data, integrate with other tools, or action the responses within your workflow.

Creating a form in Airtable doesn't require extensive technical skills, making it accessible to a broad audience. Follow these steps, and your data collection is poised for success!
