Disconnecting Zapier Integration from Slack: A Step-by-Step Guide

Published on Feb 28th, 2024

Integrating Zapier with Slack can significantly enhance productivity by automating tasks between various applications. However, there may come a time when you need to remove Zapier from Slack—whether for security reasons, to declutter your workspace, or simply because the integration is no longer needed. Whatever the reason, the process of disconnecting Zapier from Slack is straightforward and can be completed in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Access Your Slack Settings

Begin by opening Slack and navigating to your workspace where Zapier is integrated. Click on your workspace name in the top left corner to expand the menu. From there, select 'Settings & administration,' then 'Manage apps' to access the Slack App Directory.

Step 2: Find Zapier in the App Directory

Once in the App Directory, you'll see a list of all the apps currently connected to your Slack workspace. Scroll through the list or use the search bar to find Zapier. Once you locate Zapier, click on it to view more details.

Step 3: Remove Zapier Integration

After selecting Zapier, you'll be able to see all of the active Zaps (automations) associated with your Slack workspace. Find the specific Zap you want to remove or click on 'Configuration' to see more options. In the Configuration page, scroll down to find the 'Remove App' button. Click on 'Remove App' to disconnect Zapier from your Slack workspace.

Step 4: Confirm Removal

Slack will prompt you to confirm the removal of the Zapier integration. Review this prompt carefully to ensure you understand what will happen once the app is disconnected. If you are certain you want to proceed, confirm the removal by clicking the 'Yes, Remove' button.

Step 5: Check Zapier for Orphaned Zaps

It's also a good practice to log into your Zapier account to check for any Zaps that may no longer function correctly without the Slack connection. Open your Zapier dashboard, review your Zaps, and remove or modify any that relied on the Slack integration.

Step 6: Final Verification

Once you've removed Zapier from Slack and checked your Zapier account, go back to Slack and ensure that the integration is no longer present. You may also want to communicate with your team to inform them that the Zapier integration has been removed, in case it affects their workflow.

Following these steps will help you remove Zapier from Slack cleanly and maintain your workspace's organization. Remember that you can always reintegrate Zapier with Slack in the future if needed, setting up new automations to help streamline your team’s collaboration efforts.
