Streamline Your Shopify Customer Engagement with Zapier: Create Separate Lists for Individual Purchasers
Published on Apr 4th, 2024
In today’s fast-paced ecommerce world, engaging with your customers in a personalized manner is key to driving sales and fostering loyalty. Shopify store owners often seek to understand and organize their customer base for targeted marketing and outreach. One efficient way to do this is by using Zapier to create separate lists for purchasers of individual items. Zapier is an automation tool that connects your favorite apps and services, enabling you to automate workflows without writing any code.
To begin with, you will need accounts on both Shopify and Zapier, as well as an email marketing platform like Mailchimp, Sendinblue, or Klaviyo where the lists will be hosted.
Step 1: Set Up Your Shopify to Zapier Connection
First, you need to connect your Shopify store to Zapier. To do this, choose Shopify as the trigger app in Zapier, and log in with your store’s details. Once logged in, you'll be able to access various Shopify triggers such as 'New Order' or 'New Paid Order'.
Step 2: Define the Trigger
For your goal, you'll likely want to select 'New Paid Order' as the trigger. This means that whenever a new paid order is placed on your Shopify store, it will spark a new action in Zapier.
Step 3: Filter by Item Purchased
Next, you might want to add a filter that ensures the workflow continues only if a specific item is purchased. This can be done by selecting the ‘Filter by Zapier’ action and setting up a condition that matches the product ID or name of the item purchased with your intended list.
Step 4: Choose Your Email Marketing Platform
Select your email marketing platform (Mailchimp, Sendinblue, Klaviyo, etc.) as the action app. You will be prompted to log in to your account and grant permissions.
Step 5: Create or Update a List
Once you've set up the connection with your email marketing platform, choose the action 'Create/Update Subscriber'. You can then map fields from Shopify to your email list, including the customer's email address, first and last name, and any other relevant information.
Step 6: Test and Activate Your Zap
Before activating your Zap, it’s crucial to test it to ensure that everything is working as expected. Place a test order on your Shopify store that matches the criteria of your filter. If set up correctly, the test should result in the appropriate customer data being added to your designated list on your email platform.
After the test is successful, set your Zap live. From now on, every time a customer purchases the item you've set a filter for, they will be automatically added to the corresponding list in your email marketing tool, enabling you to segment your marketing efforts effectively.
By following these steps, Shopify store owners can use Zapier to create individual lists for purchasers, paving the way for more personalized and effective marketing campaigns. This automates a significant chunk of marketing operations, saving time and reducing the potential for human error.
