Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. The documents are parsed and re-assembled by pdf-lib running as JavaScript in this browser tab. Nothing is transmitted, so there is no server-side copy of your files.
Does merging change the pages?
No. Pages are copied between documents with their fonts, images, and vector content intact, so a merged page is identical to the page it came from. Merging is not a re-encode and there is no quality setting to get wrong.
Can I change the order before merging?
Yes. Move each file up or down in the list, and remove any you added by mistake. The merged document follows the order shown.
What if the merged file is too large to email?
Run it through the PDF compressor afterwards. Merging is lossless, so the combined file is roughly the sum of the parts; if that is too much, compression is the lever, and it works best when the originals contain scans or photographs.
