Relay: AI Help Desk Software
Relay is the Switch Labs help desk. It reads every message as it arrives, resolves routine tickets end to end with opt-in AI, and hands an agent the rest with the answer already drafted from your knowledge base and live order data. Pricing is three per-seat tiers — Starter $9, Growth $19, Scale $39 per user per month — with AI included on every tier and no per-resolution fee.
The pricing argument, stated plainly
Almost every AI help desk charges a usage meter on top of seats. Intercom’s Fin bills $0.99 per resolved outcome with a 50-outcome monthly floor. Zendesk stacks a Suite seat, a $50 per agent Copilot add-on, and roughly $1.50 to $2.00 per resolution. Gorgias charges $1.00 per AI resolution and counts the same conversation against your plan’s ticket volume, so it is billed twice. Help Scout is the cheapest published meter at $0.75. Freshdesk sells sessions at $49 per 100 that expire monthly with no rollover. All rates published and verified 21 August 2026.
The structural consequence is easy to miss: metered AI pricing bills you more precisely when the AI works better. Improve deflection from 20% to 50% and your software bill goes up, for the same team, for doing support better. Relay includes AI on every tier, so it does not.
The honest counter-case: if you handle very few tickets, you may never hit a meter that would have charged you, and a per-resolution vendor could cost less. And for three agents or fewer, Zoho Desk’s free tier beats every paid product including this one. Both of those are modelled in the cost calculator, which is why it is a calculator rather than a claim.

Frequently asked questions
What is Relay?
Relay is Switch Labs' AI-native help desk. It reads every incoming message, resolves routine tickets end to end with opt-in AI, and hands the rest to an agent with the answer already drafted and grounded in your knowledge base and live order data.
How is Relay priced?
Three per-seat tiers: Starter at $9, Growth at $19, and Scale at $39 per user per month. AI is included on every tier, and there is no per-resolution fee, so the bill does not rise as the AI resolves more. Check the Relay site for current plans before you buy.
How does that differ from how competitors charge for AI?
Most of the category meters AI on top of seats. Intercom's Fin bills $0.99 per resolved outcome with a 50-outcome monthly minimum. Zendesk charges roughly $1.50 committed or about $2.00 pay-as-you-go per resolution, plus a $50 per agent Copilot add-on. Gorgias charges $1.00 per AI resolution and also counts it against your plan's ticket volume. Help Scout's AI Answers are $0.75 per resolution. All rates published and verified 21 August 2026.
