How to Rename Multiple Images

Batch renaming images is perfect for organizing photos, product catalogs, or any collection of images that need consistent naming. Our tool uses pattern templates with powerful tokens that automatically generate unique filenames.

Quick Start Guide:

  1. Upload your images using the drag-and-drop area or file browser
  2. Go to the “Rename” tab and create your pattern using tokens like {n}, {original}, {date}
  3. Preview the new filenames and check for any collisions
  4. Move to the “Resize” tab to configure dimensions (optional)
  5. Click “Process Images” and download as individual files or ZIP

Image Renaming Patterns

Common Patterns

  • product-{n}

    → product-001.jpg, product-002.jpg

  • photo_{date}_{n}

    → photo_2025-01-15_001.jpg

  • {original}_{w}x{h}

    → image_1920x1080.jpg

  • img-{date}-{time}

    → img-2025-01-15-14-30-00.jpg

Available Tokens

  • {n} - Sequential number (001, 002...)
  • {N} - Custom starting number
  • {original} - Original filename
  • {date} - Current date (YYYY-MM-DD)
  • {time} - Current time (HH-MM-SS)
  • {w} - Image width in pixels
  • {h} - Image height in pixels
  • {ext} - Original extension
  • {size} - File size (e.g., 2.5MB)

Frequently Asked Questions

How many images can I process at once?

You can process up to 100 images in a single batch. Each image can be up to 50MB in size. All processing happens locally in your browser, so the actual limit depends on your device’s memory.

Will EXIF data be preserved?

By default, EXIF metadata is removed when processing images. However, you can toggle the “Strip Metadata” option off in the Resize tab to preserve EXIF data including camera settings, GPS location, and timestamps.

Can I undo changes?

The tool processes images and creates new files without modifying your originals. You can always go back to your original files if needed. We recommend reviewing the preview before processing.

What’s the maximum file size?

Each individual image can be up to 50MB. There’s no total batch size limit, but very large batches may take longer to process depending on your device’s capabilities.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No! All image processing happens 100% locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and security. This also means no upload/download time - processing is instant.

Can I use this for commercial projects?

Yes! This tool is completely free for personal and commercial use. There are no usage limits, watermarks, or restrictions. Perfect for photographers, designers, e-commerce stores, and businesses.
