How OCR Works
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a technology that converts different types of documents—such as scanned paper documents, PDF files, or images captured by a digital camera—into editable and searchable data.
Our OCR tool uses Tesseract.js, one of the most accurate open-source OCR engines available. The process involves analyzing the image, detecting text regions, recognizing characters, and converting them into machine-readable text.
All processing happens directly in your browser using WebAssembly technology. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and security.
Supported Languages
Our OCR tool supports over 100 languages, including:
You can select multiple languages at once for documents containing mixed language text.
Tips for Better OCR Accuracy
Use High-Contrast Images
Dark text on light backgrounds (or vice versa) produces the best results. Avoid low-contrast or faded text.
Ensure Good Lighting
Well-lit images without shadows or glare will be recognized more accurately. Avoid underexposed or overexposed photos.
Keep Text Straight
Images with horizontal text aligned properly work best. Use the auto-rotate feature for skewed images.
Use Clear, Legible Fonts
Standard fonts like Arial, Times New Roman work better than decorative or handwritten fonts.
Avoid Noise and Artifacts
Clean images without background patterns, watermarks, or compression artifacts yield better results.
Higher Resolution is Better
Images with at least 300 DPI produce more accurate results. Avoid very low-resolution or blurry images.
OCR Use Cases
Digitize Documents
Convert scanned paper documents into editable digital text
Extract Receipt Data
Pull text from receipts and invoices for expense tracking
